Takashi stood by the fountain, watching the water spray as it reached it's peak. He'd arrived early this morning, his father in dire need of the driver, had no choice but to have to drop the eldest son off at school early. It wasn't that the tall boy had any problems with arriving early, after all, his father's business went before the few hours of sleep he was now missing.
No, what troubled him the most now, was that his cousin, Mitsukuni, would have to do without him for today's morning ride. Usually he would have his driver take him round to the Haninozuka mansion and from there he'd travel with the blonde boy to school. Of course he'd called the little martial artist the moment he'd heard, hearing nothing but 'don't worry Takashi' and 'I'll be fine so I'll see you when I get to school'. He'd also been told that he'd bring him cake as thanks for his worrying.
He couldn't bring himself to tell the other that he wasn't one for eating such sweet things in the morning. With a soft sigh, he glanced at the pathway, leading from the main drop-off point to the school entrance. He couldn't help but think of all the things that could have gone wrong while Mitsukuni travelled to school, even though he knew he was more than capable of handling things. He tore his eyes away from the pathway, knowing it wouldn't help things and went back to watching the water. It was pretty. The way early sun shone through the spray, making little rainbows that reflected softly on the rippling pond.

Long, slightly calloused fingers gripped the edge of the school bag that was standard issued for the female students of Ouran. Sitting in the back of a black luxury car, Katsuo Hikari was steadily calming her nerves. It had helped that her parents had allowed her to use the shorter luxury car instead of a full blown limo. It felt a bit more like the normal cars she had grown up using, so she felt a bit more comfortable. The limo would be tomorrow.
Though she didn't look it at all, Hikari was nervous about entering this new world. She had barely gotten used to the mansion that her family was now living in, much less any of the household servants. She'd have to be careful not to look ill at ease in this new world. She tugged lightly on the high collar of her dress, being careful not to wrinkle it. Despite the nerves she was feeling, Hikari was confident that she'd be able to use her wit and observation skills to smooth in as quickly as she could. It just wouldn't do to ruin her family's image.
Before long, the car pulled to a stop in front of the Academy. She looked out the window. That's...a school? It looks more like a palace. Nonetheless, Hikari kept a passive expression as she habitually went to open the door, only to find that it was already being held open by the driver. She stepped out. "Thank you." The driver closed the door and then drove away, leaving Hikari on her own. Here it goes!
Hikari had made sure to arrive early, just in case she got lost. Seeing the size of the grounds, she was glad she had. Perhaps that was why she was surprised to see another student. Wow. He's tall. Not only that, but he looked like he harbored a good amount of strength in his body structure. She eventually came closer to the fountain and stopped, observing for a moment. It really was beautiful, making for a complete picture.
She decided to introduce herself. Unfortunately, she had been unable to find out more about the other students in the school before she came, much to her dislike. In this type of situation, it would be best to introduce herself to others to make a good impression. Not only that, but Hikari really did want to be more friendly to people she didn't know since it usually didn't come too naturally. She stopped by the fountain, maintaining a friendly but respectul distance as she watched how the water reflected the light. "I'm surprised to see someone else here so early." She let the statement rest for a moment before she turned partway to face someone who, now that she thought about it, was definitely an upperclassmen. "We've never met before, so allow me to introduce myself. I'm Katsuo Hikari. I'm transferring here today in to the Freshman Class A."

Takashi slowly let his eyes fall to the rippling water, his thoughts drifting off to the beach trip the Host Club had made quite a while back. They had taken their designators along, as to keep the whole business running. That and the fact that Kyouya would have most probably disagreed to the plan if they hadn't agreed to go along with it. It wasn't all that bad though, they got to learn a lot about each other and play around a bit. So it was, to some extent, still a vacation. And they finally had their concerns understood by Haruhi, letting them all believe that she'd take things a bit easier from then on, trusting them a bit more. Sadly, the girl seemed to still have such a strong will that the Club members had to force their protection on her. At least she let them her help now.
He pulled his hand out of his pocket, spreading his fingers as he looked. He could easily knock a man of his feet with one hit, possibly carry half the Host Club on his shoulders and keep an eye on Mitsukuni, should he eat too many cakes again. All at the same time. Takashi sometimes wondered if it wasn't too much for one person. So he had concluded that if it was, he would make it so that he would use what he had for everyone's sake. So far so good.
A soft voice to his right caused him to blink. Someone had walked up to him, yet he hadn't noticed them till now? The thought going in for extra kendo practise crossed his mind, before he gave the girl his more general answer. "Ah." He turned around completely to face her, listening carefully as she introduced herself. He took his time to reply, taking in her appearance, her posture and the way she talked. It was obvious to him that she wasn't entirely comfortable, he guessed mostly to being here,as she was a first year. She was obviously not used to such extravagance, which led him to believe that she was not born in this prestigious world. He hadn't heard of another student being accepted for excellent grades, as Haruhi was, so her family had recently hit the jackpot, to put it bluntly. "Morinozuka Takashi. Senior." He stood there, not offering anything more than she needed to know. But what about what she needs? The thought crossed his mind, he wondered why, yet added "Welcome."

It seemed that Morinozuka Takashi was not a man of many words. "Thank you, Morinozuka-sempai. It's nice to meet you." Despite the fact that he wasn't expanding on the conversation, Hikari didn't think any less of him for it. For some reason, he just didn't seem to be that way from arrogance like some would be. Sure, he was a bit intimidating due to his sheer size. That was a given any time someone over the six foot mark talked to someone over half a foot shorter. I can't put my finger on it, but he seems...kind. Highly reserved, but a good person.
Hikari stood still for a few more moments, watching the way the water ran out from the fountain. The spray arced elegantly through the air, casting small rainbows as the light reflected through the droplets. She smiled as she watched it. It's hard to believe that something as simple as water can be so beautiful. She turned to Mori again. She decided to keep the conversation light, but substantial. If Takashi wasn't the type for long chats, she'd have the conversation go in such a way that wouldn't require extensive responses. She didn't want the upperclassman to feel obligated to give any extensive responses, but she didn't want to be rude and simply walk away. "Morinozuka-sempai, are you in any of the clubs? I was planning on joining the kendo club."
Memories from her past activities went through Hikari's mind. Kendo had been part of the reason why she had wanted to remain in what would be viewed as a commoner's school through her middle school education. She had been reluctant to leave her friends, and kendo had been one of her main activities, parkour and the violin aside. She doubted that there was a parkour club since it would probably be viewed as a commoner's way of getting by without a gymnasium, and she wasn't interested in joining a musical club. She wanted something more physical to do for exercise since it helped regulate her mood and metabolism.

Takashi spent a moment longer looking at the girl. She had an earnest face, her attitude seemed to match it to, something quite rare in this world. "Ah." He replied, agreeing that this meeting was not something he'd regret so soon. After all, Takashi enjoyed meeting new people, it broadened ones world. And the fact that she was a commoner before, also made it all the more interesting. 'Didn't she say she was in the first grade? Class A?
'This will be good for Haruhi.'[/color] He concluded with a gentle smile, the water reflecting softly in his eyes.Their natural type needed to go out and spend time with others besides the Host Club members. Especially if their 'King' wanted her to act more like the young girl she is. And perhaps, her and this girl, might have a few things in common. It would help them both if they managed to get along. He'd have to share his thoughts with Mitsukuni when he arrives, positive that his cousin would whole heartedly agree and then develop some pointless scheme or another to get them to met even though they're already in the same class. Ah, well, it would at least put the boy's energy to good use.
From the corner of his eye, he saw his new acquaintance turn to face him, she, Katsou-chan he'd have to call her, seemed to be choosing between whether to speak or not, perhaps unsure whether he was in the mood for talking. He sometimes frowned at the fact that he wasn't one for words, it put people in such uncomfortable positions for no reason. Once again she surprised him with a question so normal yet not what he'd have expected her to throw at him so early on in their aquaintance, his eyes widened ever so slightly, a small smile playing his lips. "Ah, Kendo club. You should." He'd taken a moment of silence to properly see her physique, wondering if she was just saying about joining Kendo, or if she had actually trained in it before. He was glad to see it was the latter, yet could not tell how good she was, afraid that if he looked at her too long, she call him a pervert. Something like that may prove hard to explain, especially when you're one of so few words.

Hikari was slightly amused when Mori seemed surprised at her intentions. The percentage of female kendo participants was quite low compared to the males, mostly due to its nature. It required a good amount of upper body strength and overall physical ability, and it could be quite brutal. Fortunately for her, genetics and livelihood were in her favor.
When Mori smiled, Hikari was stunned by just much of an affect that small change made, even though it didn't really show too much in her expression. It made Mori look quite charming. It probably suited him much better than a larger, goofy grin would, or even a large smile. Needless to say, it was potentially dangerous for any girl he might decide to use it on intentionally. Then again, any aforementioned victim might be lucky as opposed to unfortunate.
Hikari smiled up at Mori again. "I will. I'm a bit too fond of it to give it up any time soon." For a moment, she thought that Morinozuka-sempai was looking at her, not her face, but then it was gone. She decided not to press, and since it was obvious that he hadn't stared anyway, it was negligible. Of course, like any self-respecting young woman, she didn't let on.
Looking around, Hikari began to notice some signs of light activity around the school. She still had plenty of time, but she didn't want to be late. She looked around and spotted the entrance. It then occured to her that it was possible that there would be no clear stream of traffic to follow to the freshman class like she had thought. There would be no busloads of people getting off like at a normal school. They would all be using private transportation, so it would be harder to spot out a group of freshmen than she had previously thought. I should have ignored Nii-san's insistence that I wouldn't need a map or directions.
Feeling just a tiny bit sheepish, Hikari decided to ask Morinozuka-sempai for help. "Morinozuka-sempai, could you point me in the direction of the freshmen classrooms? I'm afraid I failed to secure some directions ahead of time."

Takashi blinked once, then gave a curt nod. His smile had gotten just a bit brighter. He really did enjoy having new people join the club, it was like a fresh breeze through the sometimes stuffy dojo. He'd been against everyone, he knew their moves. But having someone new there.. Plus that she was a girl. The stoic boy had long learnt that girls are rather interesting opponents. If they truly believe in the way of the sword, they can be the most hard to predict of kendoka. In fact, Takashi found his most troublesome opponents to be female.
He watched as her eyes changed direction, following suit. It was no surprise to see a few other students had arrived. It was mostly those that had club activities to tend to in the morning, such as the Garden Society or the track team. He doubted he'd see any of the Host club members till later on in the afternoon, or at least till Mitsukuni arrived. Speaking of which, he was now even more aware of just how early he'd arrived. Usually, neither arrived till at least half an hour later. His forehead creased in the slightest, his hands, stuffed casually into his pockets, curled slightly into a fist. He knew he was over-protective of his cousin, but he just couldn't help it. It was just how things always were.
"Ah?" He hadn't heard her at first, at least he hadn't properly registered her words. Not till a few seconds later. He pulled a hand out of his pocket, having raised it halfway, before changing his mind and letting his arm fall to his side. "I'll show you." It was not like he had anything else to do. And besides, apart from keeping his thoughts off the clock and his relative's arrival, he might just run into Haruhi. She was usually more at ease during the mornings, not having been succumbed to an entire day of the twins and Tamaki. He gave the girl a look, not quite a smile, yet his eyes said enough. He didn't want her to feel like she was making him go out of his way for her, that he really didn't mind. With a slight motion of his head 'Coming?', he made a slow start in the direction of the high school section, the grand oak doors and finely tiled marble floors.
